There is much to be said for the direct approach, exemplified here in the guest bedroom I designed for House & Garden’s Hamptons Designer Showhouse. The room had the luxury of an attached covered porch, so I decided to create the ultimate beachy retreat by assembling an eclectic decor with furniture, fabrics, and accessories from different places and periods. All the while keeping things simple and unpretentious, and sublimely comfortable.
